The Big House And The Little Village - By Roy Young
The eponymous 'big house' is Wentworth Woodhouse, England's largest private residence. The 'little village' is Wentworth.
To outsiders these can often be viewed as one and the same, but of course they aren't, for the village came along long before the house and the two are no longer owned by the same family.
This book is a pictorial reference guide to Wentworth as both a village and a community. It is a personal collection of photographs, postcards, snippets and ephemera assembled over forty years by the author himself, giving a taste of what life was really like in a tiny estate village presided over by a grand country house.
